Trouble With Twitter: Are You Making These Twitter Mistakes?

Trouble with Twitter: Are You Making These Twitter Mistakes? by Lee, Michael

Twitter might be Godsend to some, but it does not hold all the answers. Yes, micro blogging can be very addicting and fun, but that is precisely the trouble with Twitter. I’m sure a lot of teachers, parents, employers and maybe even spouses around the world agree with me on this one.

Twitter is known as the SMS of the Internet due to the limited amount of characters you can send to an exclusive group of followers. Still, that does not diminish the appeal of this social media one bit.

Here are some issues about Twitter to watch out for.

Trouble # 1 with Twitter: It’s virtually irresistible.

Many Twitter users admit that checking their Twitter account is one of the first things they’ll check when they turn their computer on.

While this does not exactly pose a problem when you’re at home, it is a different matter when you’re at work. Some companies have actually restricted Twitter sites on their employees’ computers because it hinders workflow.

Instead of composing filing documents into their respective folders, employees are twittering on their computers - maybe even twittering that they’re filing documents and then forgetting about actually doing it all together.

There’s nothing wrong with using Twitter. Just keep it in moderation, and not when you have a list of other more important tasks to attend to.

Trouble # 2 with Twitter: It’s a poor replacement.

Twitter also has a nasty habit of taking over meaningful conversations and reducing them to 140 characters.

Sure, it’s instant messaging in an attractive package, but Twittering thank you messages to the friends who attended your wedding is not the same as sending them thank you cards. In fact, it’s almost an insult to use Twitter to deal with such personal expressions of gratitude.

Sending Twitter messages to dear friends can be fun, but don’t use it to take care of personalized special messages.

Trouble # 3 with Twitter: It cannot promote your business single-handedly.

More and more people are using Twitter these days, but that doesn’t mean you can rely on it to single-handedly market and advertise your business for you. While Twitter marketing can be effective for your business, it cannot stand alone.

It needs the support of other means of marketing and advertising. According to CEO of Zappos.com Tony Hsieh (via Copy Blogger), they do find Twitter an advantage to their business but they don’t necessarily use it for “driving immediate sales.”

Twitter helps spread the word around through followers – and can be extremely profitable as a marketing tool - but it should not be the sole backbone of your business.

The trouble with Twitter is that it is sometimes being used in unproductive ways. But as long as you know its limitations and proper usage, you can achieve amazingly profitable and productive results with Twitter.

How To Boost Seo With Twitter

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 7:12 am

How to Boost SEO with Twitter by Andrew Plimmer

Of course, it’s certainly no closely guarded secret that to get more web traffic to their sites, many internet marketers have been taking advantage of Web 2.0 technologies in order to boost SEO. In fact, this couldn’t be more apparent than it is with blogs and social networking sites.

However, in more recent times, many marketers are becoming heavily involved with Twitter. Of course, one could argue that Twitter does in fact fall into the same category as social networking, but the difference is Twitter is unique in that it’s a micro-blogging service as well. If you’re currently involved with internet marketing and you’re also considering taking advantage of Twitter in order to boost SEO, then you’d be well advised to look at some of the problems and challenges faced by fellow marketers.

A Big Challenge Awaits New Users

One of the first things new users need to realize is, you have to start off slowly, in much the same way as you no doubt started out with other social networking sites. First and foremost, you need to become a follower of all the other Twitter members that you’ve become acquainted with via other networking sites. If all goes according to plan, they will return the favour as such by following you as well. As you more than likely already know, if you want to improve your rankings, you need to have as many followers as possible.

In Twitter, Shared Link Have “No-Follow” Attribute

One of the most discouraging aspects of Twitter is that when somebody clicks on your link, it has absolutely no effect on your page ranking. However, there is no need to throw in the towel because of this. Instead, you can post rewritten URL’s with the necessary keywords on the link which will of course ensure they are discovered by the various search engines.

Character Limits in Twitter

Essentially, you need to pay close attention to two numbers in Twitter. The first number is 30, and this is the character limit for live links. The second number is 140 and this in turn is the overall character limit for each message. While it simply isn’t possible to get around the 140 character limit, there are a few workarounds with regards to the 30 character limit for URL’s.

For example, many marketers now make use of sub-domains on their sites in order to point to their longer page. For the most part, sub-domains are easy to customize for free and what’s more, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to squeeze in a few words within the character limit. Likewise, some savvy marketers are also using dummy blogs which have similar content, but which link to the page they are wanting visitors to see.

The Importance of Keyword Research

As many marketers can attest to, Twitter can be painfully tough if you limit yourself too severely with regards to the keywords you use. However, because Twitter has such a phenomenal page ranking, the use of keywords is vital. By doing adequate research for the ideal keywords, you’ll be able to tap into a potentially endless supply of traffic.

Of course, Twitter is more beneficial to some than it is to other. This of course depends on what product or service you’ve chosen to promote but even if Twitter is not the ideal tool for you, you can still use it to your advantage, even if you only use it to ensure your site gets listed on the search engine results.

Twitter Advertising Info- 5 Tactics On How To Advertise On Twitter

Twitter Advertising Info- 5 Tactics On How To Advertise on Twitter by Andy Brooks

It is becoming very clear that Twitter is not just growing fast, but that it offers enormous opportunities for business. And they can be your opportunities. Have you ever contemplated using Twitter for your advertising? Do you believe that your business might grow if you advertise on Twitter? If not, change your mind because Twitter seems here to stay and provides tremendous opportunity.

So what are the type of things your must do to successfully advertise on Twitter? Here are some ideas:

1. If you have any type of special offer or direct sale to present, you can use Twitter to directly tell your list of Twitter followers. But this might even work better if your offer has a certain time limit to (e.g. “available for just two days”) or there is an element of scarcity (e.g. “Just 10 more in stock”). So using the 140 character Twitter alerts could help you make a few more sales this way.

2. You can use Twitter to tell your following about events or public appearances your are organising. It depends on your business, but you can use Twitter almost like a local radio station and tell your potential customers where you will be, or what you’ll be up to. Keep your following updated and interested in your whereabouts.

3. Have a Twitter account for different parts of your business: niche Twitter accounts so to speak. This way you can broadcast very specific information to a core group of highly interested potential customers. You could provide some good free information, but mix this up with some sales messages.

4. Don’t just sell. Make sure you let your Twitter following know a little bit about you, who you are, what your interests are. Be a real person. It’s likely to make your attempts to advertise on Twitter much more effective. It’s back to the old ‘relationship building’ approach. Pretty important in Twitter too. Your followers are more likely to buy from someone they know and trust.

5. Add a Twitter link to your main website, that customers can click on to follow you on Twitter. This increases the likelihood of them becoming more loyal customers, if you also stick to tip 4!

There are undoubtedly several other ideas and tips to advertise on Twitter, but these are just some of them I thought might help you with your Twitter advertising efforts. What you will most certainly need is this potential Twitter customer base. But how do you get that?

Well, I have written a number of articles about that, but there is one method that truly stands out, and that is how to do it all on auto-pilot. I learned about a person who managed to get 16000 followers in 3 months on auto-pilot, and he made money while doing this! Interested to know more? Brute Force Twitter

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 6:35 am

brute force twitter by Peteinoz

Facebook can find you a couple hundred friends you never knew you had. LinkedIn might snag you a couple of career connections here and there. But on Twitter, you can achieve the instant status of claiming tens of thousands, even a million, followers without the pesky task of starting your own religion.

Even before actor Ashton Kutcher earned the bragging rights of beating CNN in the race to reach 1 million Twitter followers, the frenzy to gain more followers on the microblogging site inspired a cadre of Internet marketers and Web developers to sell their methods of exponentially increasing a person’s Twitter following. Part of the craze is about social status, part of it is about business promotion and, according to some Twitter users, much of it is suspect.

For the uninitiated, the term “brute force” might sound incompatible with a communication platform whose mascot is a diminutive sparrow. “In the online sense, it means to force an issue—rapidly firing a method either on a server or a service in an inauthentic way to get a lot out of a service in a short space of time,” says Phil Campbell, a 36-year-old freelance Web developer and consultant based in Derbyshire, England.

The term goes back to the days of the first modern software companies, when hackers tried to discover a software product’s protective serial code by building a program called a key generator, which entered possible combinations at a breakneck pace until it broke though a program’s protective barrier.

“Brute force is the best way to describe my software,” says Peter Drew, CEO of XRT Services, which recently unveiled a product he calls Brute Force Twitter, the same name as Bryda’s product.

Drew sells a line of software products under the Brute Force brand and has used the brand for several years, long before, he says, Bryda began to sell his Brute Force Twitter. “I’m the Brute Force guy and everyone knows it,” Drew says.

“Basically, the idea is about forcing your way to the top,” says Dana Willhoit, 45, CEO of ThePressReleaseSite.com and a social-media consultant who partnered with Drew to create his Brute Force Twitter product.

Unlike Bryda’s product, which relies on manually employing different tactics, Drew’s Brute Force Twitter is a piece of software that automatically identifies and follows Twitter users who have tweeted specific keywords. Drew’s product is connected to a database of Twitter users, ensuring that users do not follow the same person twice and mitigating the risk of being reported to Twitter as a nuisance.

However, not all Twitter users feel that the software is any better or more organic than other techniques available. “It’s like walking into a pub and joining in a conversation about something when you do not know the background of the people or have respect for the flow of the conversation,” Campbell says.

Twitter itself acknowledges the variety of ways its users view its service. “Many are experimenting with how to be more successful with Twitter and even what that means for them,” says Biz Stone, Twitter’s co-founder and creative director. Nevertheless, Stone draws a line, albeit a hazy one, when it comes to using Twitter for spam purposes. “We look very seriously at those on a case-by-case basis. Accounts that violate our terms of service in this regard are suspended,” Stone says.

Some believe that how you use brute-force methods matters more than the methods themselves. It’s up to users if they want to use Twitter for spam purposes, says Nathan Gilder, a 28-year-old Internet-marketing consultant who uses Drew’s Brute Force Twitter. “And the nice thing about Twitter is that if you don’t want to listen to someone, you can just unfollow them.”

Facts About the Twitter Traffic Growth

Facts About the Twitter Traffic Growth
By Cesar Calnan

There were at first Facebook and Myspace that were balancing the idea of fun and that of maintaining a professional appearance. Now, it comes Twitter, a platform for micro blogging that provides you the ability to send short messages of up to 140 characters. The main idea is that you post a message on Twitter and let every person who is following you know what are you doing at a specific moment. Soon after it appeared, Twitter made headlines for the unpredictable twitter traffic explosion. It has grown quickly in the past few months. The traffic doubled from February to April and it currently attracts 1. 2 million people every month.

The twitter traffic around the world shows that it comes from the website itself in the old fashioned online way, but also from Mobile Web, Instant Message or SMS. Although developed in US, the majority of traffic, more than 60% comes from outside the US, mainly from Japan, Spain and United Kingdom.

Twitter was one of the fastest increasing traffic websites in Uk last year an it shown no sign that it’s slowing down. The measuring traffic to the main Twitter website only is astonishing. In the period between January 2008 and January 2009 the traffic increased by 974%. This number shows only the classical website traffic.

If we would add the mobile devices traffic, the amount would be considerably increased. The twitter traffic growth is also explainable by the fact that people now spend an average of half an hour daily on the platform, comparable to 10 minutes a day last year.

Twitter is most popular with younger users from the urban areas, but its appeal is broadening together with its growth. It is becoming an extremely important source of traffic for a lot of sites. The amount of traffic that Twitter sends to other websites has increased over thirty times in the past year.

Twitter traffic is not only about big numbers at a large scale. It is also about individual ways of getting it for personal or little businesses marketing growth. Recently there were developed even some software products that help you increase the number of twitter followers and grow traffic.

One of the most recent products existing on the market today is the Twitter Traffic Machine. It totally automates the whole process of getting huge amounts of the Twitter followers. These kinds of products are based on the idea that you can earn money by increasing the traffic on your Twitter profile and pretend to help you getting this.

For example, The Twitter Traffic Machine claims to be a cash making system for people who wants to set up a system one time and after that forget about it. It will make cash by itself. Of course, everything has its price and the program is not free.

There are also other products to buy in order to learn how to increase traffic and make some money. Among the most popular are the Twitter Traffic Gold e-book and Viral Twitter Traffic software.

Is Twitter Really Worth The Effort?

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 7:41 am

Is Twitter Really Worth The Effort? by Barry J McDonald

I’m sure by now you’re probably aware of Twitter and the phenomenon it’s become but is it really right for you and worth the effort.

Here are some mistakes I see others on Twitter making…

- More people are using twitter than ever before but is it really a good thing? Other than problems with the site slowing down lately it’s becoming clogged full of nonsense. I know the idea of Twitter is to let the world know what you’re doing at that moment in time, but some people are taking this too literally, for example telling the world you’re having breakfast or just brushed you teeth just isn’t worth the effort or make others want to follow you!

- Twitter like face book and other social networking sites has become to some people an ego building exercise, with people trying to out do each other with the amount of people following them not as a way of building relationships but rather as a numbers game and nothing else. For example I know “Ashton Kutcher” broke the magic one million followers but can you honesty build up a relationship with more than a handful of those followers.

- The main thing about Twitter that appeals to everyone whether they’re a stay at home mom or a high power executive is that everyone has the chance of a voice in the world and a chance to tell the world what they’re up to now. But, the downfall of this is that a lot of people are spending their time with a lot of “Me, Me” talk only focusing on themselves and not caring what others have to say about themselves or what’s going on in others lives.

- By using Twitter as a tool to building you business or relations with others online you can fall into the trap of spending so much time keeping up with others that you’re spending more time online getting nothing done with your business rather than focusing on what’s really important.

Finally,

You may think that I’m totally, against Twitter and you should avoid it like the plague but no, Twitter like a lot of things if used properly can help make a difference both with extra web traffic and profits. BUT if you lose your focus and get carried away with it just being a numbers game and thinking of “Me” only and forgetting everyone else than it’s a total waste of your time and efforts and only an ego building exercise.

How Does Twitter Work For The Success Of Your Best Affiliate Programs

How Does Twitter Work For The Success Of Your Best Affiliate Programs by Juhani Tontti

If you are not familiar with Twitter, you may ask how does Twitter work to be able to judge, whether you can use it or how should you use it for your best affiliate programs. You must have a Twitter strategy!

1. What Is Twitter?

Twitter is a micro blogging platform, a way to keep contact with your community. One great idea is to tell, what you are just now doing or what you just did. For instance many article directories or article distribution services are connected with Twitter and every time an author submits a new article, Twitter will get the notice automatically.

You can also say that Twitter is in a way a chatting platform, because it favours short and quick messages. You have 140 characters or less to tell to your followers, what you are doing. It is wise to pick the followers carefully, so that they will form a community of people with the same needs and to avoid people, who want to sell whatever services, which are not related to your best affiliate programs.

2. The Idea Of Twitter Is In It`s Community Feature.

It is natural, that when a person has joined to some community, he has an emotional relation to it. This is important, because many home business entrepreneurs are working alone at home and they have a strong will to talk with other online business owners.

a. With Twitter you can chat directly with your customers.
b. You can build brand and keep your brand in the minds of other people.
c.You can use Twitter as a support forum for your business. This is important especially for new customers.
d. Twitter allows you to expand your circle of friends beyond your formal target group and to draw new customers into your business.
e. When you publish a new blog post or article, you can publish automatically a notice on your Twitter account, so that your followers get the information. This is important, because it happens in real time.
f. Many Twitter users have a list of followers with thousands of friends and they can test ideas or even products among these people.
g. You can share freebies or digital gifts to your followers just to make them happy.
h. You can increase your search engine rankings, when you use keywords in your posts.

Twitter belongs to the group of social media, so to be succesful with it, you just have to be social. The main rule is that you have to give, before you can get something. Your presentation must be useful for other people. This usefulness is challenging, because you cannot sell anything directly.

But when you see yourself as a host of your Twitter community, who sets the rules and the tone of discussion there, you will raise above others. The idea is that others will see you as their boss and that they become thankful to yourself.

How To Use Twitter To Market Your Ebay Auctions

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 7:04 am

How to Use Twitter to Market Your eBay Auctions by John Foley

Do you sell on eBay? If so, you may be facing some difficulties. Yes, eBay is still a great place to buy and sell goods online, but it has increased in popularity. This means that you may find more competition. For that reason, you need a way to make your eBay auctions standout. The good news is that you can do so with Twitter.

Twitter is an online social networking website that doubles as a micro-blog. It is user based. To get started, create a free Twitter account. Next, you will need to add contacts. You can do so by importing your contact list from your email account, searching for friends based on name, location, and email address. Many times, when you start following the Twitter conversations of others, they will do the same for you.

Returning back to how you can use Twitter to market your eBay auctions, it is important to not jump right in and get started. If you do, you may make many costly mistakes. These mistakes can do more harm than good.

Twitter, as previously stated, is a social networking website. Most individuals use the service to keep their friends and family updated on their life. It is not uncommon to see messages, otherwise know as Tweets, talking about a new movie, a party attended, school, and so forth. Although Twitter can be used for just about any purpose, you want to avoid sounding spammy or like you are trying to sell something, even though you are.

Once you have developed a list of followers, who are people who will read your updates, you can start marketing your eBay auctions. As for how you can do so, remember to be subtle. Instead of saying “buy the Motorola cell phone I am selling on eBay,” say “I just finished uploading my eBay auctions. Check them out if you want,” and include a link. Although the two messages have the same purpose, they come across differently.

You can also use @replies to your advantage. The best way to do this is to look for updates your contacts send you. For example, if someone says they are looking for things to buy on eBay, send a message. Your message could say something along the lines of “Neat. I sell on eBay, checkout my auctions,” and include a link. Yes, you are outright asking someone to buy your merchandise, but you did so in a response. You did not outright solicit business.

In keeping with @replies, you can search the Twitter website. You can do this at Search.Twitter.com. Here, you can perform a search with the phrase “eBay.” You will then see all Tweets that have eBay in them. Look for those who are shopping on eBay, looking for something in particular, and so forth. Even if you are not a regular follower of that person, you can become one. Send them a message, directing them to your eBay website. To prevent spam, only send one message to one Twitter member and remember to be subtle. Do not instruct them to buy your merchandise, simply encourage them to look.

In short, Twitter is a great way to stay in contact with friends, family members, and coworkers, but it is also an amazing internet marketing tool. If you are an eBay seller who isn’t seeing success or an eBay seller who wants to increase your profits, give Twitter a try. Since the service is free to use, you have nothing to lose, but profits to gain.

How To Use Twitter: How To Get Clients With Twitter

How To Use Twitter: How To Get Clients With Twitter by Biana Babinsky

You have probably heard the buzz that Twitter is receiving. Many business owners are joining Twitter, but quite a few are not sure how to use Twitter and how to promote their business on Twitter in order to get results.

Lately, I have been hearing from many clients asking me how to use Twitter and how to get results on Twitter. Here are five tips for you to help you get more clients on Twitter:

- Use Twitter To Research Your Target Market. One of the biggest benefits that Twitter provides business owners is the ability to connect with your target market and hear what your target market is talking about.

One of the biggest challenges that business owners face is not knowing what they target market needs. At Twitter you are able to listen to your target market, see what kind of issues your target market is experiencing and what kind of help your target market needs.

Once you have this information, there are many things you can do with it. You can write articles and blog posts with the information that your target market needs. You can create a service based on the information you have received. You can offer a teleseminar on a topic that your target market is interested in.

By just doing your research and understanding what your target market is looking for, you are going to dramatically increase your revenues!

- Build Your List. I am sure that you know that the bigger your list, the more successful your business is. Use Twitter to build your list by sharing information about your free gift and your newsletter with your followers. Don’t promote your newsletter and your free gift all the time, but it’s perfectly fine to mention your offers from time to time.

- Build Relationships With People You Meet On Twitter. People buy from people they know, like and trust. Don’t just promote yourself all the time. Get to know your contacts and they will get to know you.

For example, on Twitter, spend 80-90% of your twits to help others, share useful content and network. Limit promotion to 10-20% of the time. When you do this, more people will follow you and more people will want to get to know you, which will translate into more subscribers over time.

- Blog And Share Your Blog Posts On Twitter. Sharing your blog posts is another great way to demonstrate your expertise to your target market. And you don’t even have to share your posts manually. There are tools that will automatically check your blog and post your blog post to Twitter automatically.

All you need to do is to set it up and your blog posts will be shared with your followers every time you have a new blog post.

- Offer Events And Teleseminars. A great way to invite more people to your list is to offer an event and invite your Twitter contacts to join you for the event.

Just set up a teleseminar on a topic that your target market is interested in and let people on Twitter know about it. You will get more teleseminar attendants that way.

Take action on at least one of these tips today and start using Twitter to build your list, get clients and promote your business!
