The Two Ways To Communicate With Other Twitter Users

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 6:49 am

The Two Ways to Communicate with Other Twitter Users by J Work

There are a couple of different ways to have conversations with other users on Twitter. The two methods are to send a reply, which is a public entity that can be viewed by others, or to send a direct message, which is only see by the intended recipient.

To send a message directly to another user that can be viewed publicly, place the “@” symbol in front of his or her name when posting. The message will be seen by the recipient in his account on the page that shows all references to his user name. These messages will also show up in the Twitter accounts for users that follow both users. The “Direct message” label will change to “Reply to” followed by the recipient name when creating a reply.

Public replies such as those created using the @ symbol are not the same as direct messages. A direct message can be sent by typing “d” followed by a space and the user name of the intended recipient. These messages will show up in the recipient’s Direct Messages page, but not in anyone else’s Twitter account. If the label above the “What are you doing?” box does not change to say “Direct message,” then you have probably not used the correct syntax to send a direct message.

Should you use these techniques to communicate with other Twitter users? Definitely! Using Twitter to have conversations directly with other users creates a more engaging situation and increases the opportunity for using Twitter as a branding tool. Other users like to feel appreciated, like everyone, so making reference to them is a little stroke of the ego that encourages more references to your own account.

It can also be fun. Twitter moves fast. If you are communicating with serious Twitter uses, you should get a quick response. And the more you give, the more you get. Just like in every area of business and in life.

If you are serious about using Twitter as a marketing tool, you owe it to yourself to check out Tweet Later. It automates three important parts of the Twitter process: making posts, following those who follow you, and sending direct messages to new followers. If You’re Not On Twitter You Should Tweet Slap Yourself…here’s Why!

If You’re Not On Twitter You Should Tweet Slap Yourself…Here’s Why! by Ben Jordan

Twitter we’ve all heard about this phenom thingy. What is Twitter exactly, how do you use it properly and why the hell should you most certainly be using it in the real estate or any other industry on the planet?

For starters as of today…

Twitter is already the 36th most visited website in the world and climbing fast according to Alexa.com, I expect it to hit top 20 website by the end of the year or higher. That’s a pretty good reason to get yourself on there and benefit from the immense traffic on the site.

Next Twitter is estimated to have 100 million members possibly by the end of 2009. 100 Million compare that to the small 150,729 ActiveRain membership currently.

Over HALF of all Twitter members are age 35 or older.

Over 51% of Twitters make over $60,000 a year.

Twitter is NOT MySpace or Facebook, or what we call the teeny bopper and booty call sites.

Twitters are mostly professionals, business owners or “wanna be” business owners.

63% of users have college and/or graduate school degrees or attended.

76% of Twitter users have wireless internet.

What this means to people in the real estate industry? These Twitters are highly educated, high tech and affluent buyers that can and will need your real estate related services someday.

Next why Google will for sure buy Twitter this year, because of the REAL TIME search capabilities.

What does that mean you may wonder?

Unlike Google where you type a keyword phrase in and on first page you usually get a lot of spam sites, articles, press releases, article directories and things not related to your search.

With Twitter if you put in say “real estate Austin Texas”, you will instantly see who in the world at that EXACT time or at least in the last few hours has been talking about real estate in Austin Texas.

You then can join that conversation, send those people a direct message on Twitter, maybe refer them to someone, follow them on Twitter to build a relationship with them, answer there question or direct them to your blog or website for more info.

It’s basically like these people are raising their hands waiting for you to help them. This is why you should be spending hours on Twitter daily, yes hours no kidding.

This is the TRUE POWER of Twitter, that’s never been seen before in the marketing, sales and business world.

Twitter also helps you build your incoming links to your personal or business blog and website for free. The more followers you have and tweets you do, the more incoming back links you will generate to your sites. More links = more traffic = higher search rankings more the keywords your going for = more $$$ for YOU!

Wikipedia states: Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers).

So like a regular blog that you may have on ActiveRain, Word press or Blogger. You can build your personal brand in your niche, you can grow and show your expertise in your field, you can help educate and inform potential prospects on your Twitter profile.

These are just a few reasons why you must have and use daily a Twitter account, to stay competive or have the edge over others in your real estate or any other niche.

Twitter - Making Profit From Micro-blogging?

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 7:08 am

Twitter - making profit from micro-blogging? by Bethany Trinoble

Twitter is a simple idea which has quickly become the fastest growing social network since it was launched in 2007. Recent predictions are that it will have over ten million members by the end of 2009 and people are signing up in their thousands per day. But why is it growing so fast? Where else can Mr Average find out what his favourite stars are doing in their private life, what they’re eating and how they’re relaxing? He can’t, not without a hefty court injunction being issued anyway. That sounds daft but people who would never consider other social-networks are joining Twitter just for these reasons. Often because celebrities promoting their own twitter accounts and Twitter is being mentioned during normal TV shows, for example Twitter is frequently mentioned during This Morning which is the top daytime TV program in the UK. This global appeal also means that it’s possible to now reach out world-wide and promote things for very little outlay and make a profit from people’s eagerness to follow other’s lives. Large companies are already starting to realise this for example Starbucks and Vodafone have already run promotions via Twitter. Once their promotions were posted Twitter users quickly started sending the details onto their friends (this is known as re-tweeting). This has proven that Twitter promotions can have a snowball effect and grow well beyond the original targeted audience.

So how can we cash in on this phenomenon with a minimum of effort? Self-promotion done the right way is a very easy and efficient way of spreading the word about a product or idea. It won’t be long before companies start looking for Twitter users that have a large following and want to use them to kick start a promotion out into the Twitterverse as quickly as possible. People who start building their number of followers now could be sitting on a money spinner very soon.

The first step is finding out how to make money with Twitter . There are hundreds of people who claim to know but the one way that worked for me was to use the right Twitter apps

How To Make Automated Money On Twitter, Really.

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 8:14 am

How To Make Automated Money On Twitter, Really. by Greg Gillespie

For one of the seemingly stupidest ideas ever released on the general web population, Twitter surprisingly now has an effective way of making you money that is truly an automated stream of cash for those in the know.

If you do a search on making money with twitter and you will come up with a range of ideas including Twitter applications and some being a touch more novel than others which could prove to be somewhat useful for making a little extra cash. But what if you are thinking about making big money with Twitter, do really think something like a limited 140 character blog post or tweet could ever achieve this?

The answer to that question lies in a system I discovered this week. Before I tell what it is, I will explain what you can do with this Twitter system, that should have even the mildest tweeter interested.

For starters, the big hassle with Twitter is, it takes time to tweet or post an update and time is one thing that is universally in short supply.

Secondly, finding the right folks interested in my topic or business is a hassle because you can’t search on Twitter like you can search in Google for instance.

To top it all off, how could I possibly sell anything to these people even if I could find them, connect with them by updating regularly?

The answer lies with a system developed by a mild mannered geek by the name of Bill Crosby, no not the actor but the professional monopoly playing Bill Crosby. Well at least that is what his Twitter profile claims.

I met up with Bill’s system only a few days ago and when my Twitter account of about 12 months of age, had about 100 followers and about 100 people were following me. You know how it goes, you get an email from Twitter that tells you someone new is following you and think OK, they seem nice and interesting so I will follow them back. Hey every now and then you tweet about something and so it goes. Twittering in a fairly aimless manner wondering how all these people you are following have managed to get thousands of followers while you only have not much more than a few dozen. You begin to wonder, what are they all doing that I am not?

I happened to find a link in one of the direct messages from someone I had connected with on Twitter that had a small link to Bills website, where I saw his Twitter auto pilot video. It all sounded too good to be true, automatic Twitter, set it and forget it. Wow I thought, finally someone speaking my language. An automated Twitter system that would find highly targeted Twitter friends, follow them, have them follow me back and the best part was yet to come. Automated, on topic highly targeted updates. I thought, no way, this can’t happen. How? Well it is true. I will tell where I am up to now, just 4 short days later.

As of July 1, I now have 1,268 people I am following with 654 people following me. I have produced 122 updates and the best part is, no sooner had I set this up and running did I have a new business enquiry from someone interested in my services. They had clicked my website link, browsed my pages and decided to contact me with the prospect of buying from me. Wow again! I couldn’t believe it, less then one hour after setting Twitter on to auto pilot did I have a meaningful contact from a potential customer. What they were interested in was a product worth about $4,000 to my business.

I had been on Twitter for over a year and not much had happened, as I wasn’t sure what to do with it. As I said in the beginning, Twitter seemed the stupidest idea I had ever come across so I did nothing with it.

The automated Twitter system that Bill showed me how to do, only took an hour to set up. His instructions where easy to follow video guides, with a backup checklist. Everything is covered, although a couple of the sites had been updated since he made the video back in April. Still I managed to figure things out and kept going to great success. He claims to be able to get you about 15,000 followers in 90 days and with 500 extra followers I have gotten in just 4 days I am set to end up with about 45,000 followers by the end of 90 days.

Now the really cool thing is, no matter if you haven’t got a business to promote, you can make money by sharing the idea with other people who follow you. Bill makes this really easy to do. I will say that it does require you doing a little maintenance (takes about 2 minutes) a couple of times a week but it seems that this a fair trade for something so time saving.

So there you have it, a simple, easy to set and forget Twitter on auto pilot system that helps you make money in a couple of ways and at the very least frees you from the burden that Twitter once threatened us all with, namely robbing us of even more of our precious time. That is now a thing of the past, thanks to the Twitter auto pilot system from Bill.

By the way, I did upgrade one of the accounts that Bill will send you to, but it is not necessary to do so, as once you pay the small price for his system there is nothing else you need to spend, just a little time setting it up. I hope you find it as time liberating as I have.

11 Twittering Rules On How To Twitter Well, And Earn Money

11 Twittering Rules On How To Twitter Well, And Earn Money by Tantawi Sagara

Twitter has taken the world by storm, faster than a F1 racing car. The entire major news channels, TV channels, celebrities, businesses now are also on Twitter. Not forgetting the individuals and Internet Marketers who are spending enormous amounts of time twittering or tweeting. But most of them don’t know how to twitter well; twittering needs skills just like marketing does. There are even a statistics on who is the most followed Twitter user in the world. I’m going to reveal some Twitter tips on how to twitter well, so that you won’t be hate on Twitter.

Always provide solid information every time you tweet, such as big sales, free gifts at this website. Providing pictures are better.
You should find people who share similar interests to you, if you’re into Network Marketing, finding people with the same interests would be great. Use Twitter Search or Twellow for that.
Doing things online are actually virtually real, you should try to imagine you are at a party or business mixer. Social Networking is a virtual event; try to be friendly just like you would in a real life.
Be yourself.

Now, I’ve seen a lot of good things and also bad things on Twitter. Some of the bad things are caused by the Internet Marketers who are chomping at the bit thinking Twitter is going to make them rich beyond their wildest dreams. They just don’t know how to twitter well, I’ve followed many Internet Marketers and have been pitched and approached by every get-rich-quick scheme or new MLM venture, and even the next big thing projects.

What they don’t know is that 90% of the people think you are spamming them. You need to know how to twitter well, to promote your business. I’m sure giving a link to a landing page you own is absolutely not the way. Below is the way to let Twitter work for you:

Do not try to pitch your business with your Twitter Profile, Automated Direct Messages, and Tweets. Those are for you to build your credibility and reputation online, don’t sound like you need cash badly.
Always follow people who you feel may be a potential client or prospects for you. But do remember, you only want to follow them and build a good relationship with them, don’t pitch your business on your first tweet.
Always provide your information about your business or product through a blog, article, press release or even squidoo.
After you have successfully branded yourself as a leader in your field, most Twitter users will eventually be curious about your business, and they will always be able to find a way to your landing page through your blog.
Always be available; reply all your Direct Messages and replies tweet to you.

I have said that some of the bad things are caused by many of the Internet Marketers, but some of them are also caused by the misuse of Twitter tools. Nowadays, there are so many twitter tools or applications available online, free and paid. Some of the Internet Marketers are greatly misusing this. Here is why:

Automated Welcome Direct Messages

This is actually a very powerful feature available in most of the twitter tools out there. Now, I have received too many messages that say, “Thanks for following, want to make $576K in a year? Click here (link)”. Now those kinds of messages are the messages that I won’t even read. They are pitching me on the first day I knew them.

Always use friendly and non-pitching welcome messages, “Hi, great to be friends. Let’s talk further.” That’s enough. People will be more than glad to talk to you if you’re not selling them anything.

Automated Tweets

Some Twitter users that has 500 followers or below 1000 followers, and they are making automated tweets for more than 20 times a day. That’s totally ridiculous. The less your followers are means the slower your tweets will be replaced by people’s. Now, you don’t want when people clicked on your profile and saw that you are actually tweeting the same content over and over again, and it’s pitching.

You should set your automated tweets properly, set some that will be tweet once a day, a couple which will be tweet once a week. Be creative on tweeting.

Using Twitter To Pimp Your Website. 10 Free Easy Steps.

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 6:49 am

Using Twitter to pimp your website. 10 FREE easy steps. by Mike Glanville

No point having the best website in the world if no one visits it.

This is why Twitter is so important to get followers and share links with people with similar interests.

Here are 10 FREE easy steps to pimp your website using Twitter.

1/. Sign up to Twitter, and then search for me - my twitter name is AffiliateABC

Using AffiliateABC as an example of someone you know, when you find me, click on my profile and please become one of my followers - that way, we can keep in contact if you wish to discuss the sort of subjects I write about.

I should explain that I run a website entitled Affiliate School, and Slum Dog Affiliates, and I provide free advice for people who would like to become an affiliate, perhaps work from home to make money from Internet marketing.

2/. If you were going to start you a business; for example, selling wedding dresses and accessories, rather than using Twitter to search for old school friends, you might create a wedding profile for your company and then search for similar people to network with.

You might find by searching the Find People tab for “wedding” there will be many people you could tie up with to share website links, ideas, cooperate to sell each other’s wedding accessories and dresses.

You might create your profile as something other than your real name - for example “Wedding bells” rather than your real name Mary Smith

3/. If you follow me, and I follow you, we end up with a wider network of contacts, and in turn, people will take you more seriously if you appear to have many followers. You can try follow as many people as you can by keep hitting the Find people (category wedding) and following as many people as you can, but try to follow too many people at once and you generate a warning from Twitter police HQ that you might be trying to follow too many people - Twitter are wise to, and don’t like you to follow too many people, too soon. So try following people with many followers.

4/. On the Affiliate School website, notice that in the right column, there is a gadget that allows you to bookmark the page and share with people on Twitter - these tools are really useful for letting people know what your Twitter ID name is, and what you have recently been twittering about.

5/. There is also a button offering FREE visitors for your website - click on this button, and add the address of your website - free advertisement. You should advertise your site, and also advertise your Twitter home page so people can find you. So make 2 free advertisements. This button is really useful - called Traffic Digger

6/. Pick another similar wedding name - such as “wedding hire”, or “getting married” So long as you don’t follow too many people too soon, you should be able to follow a number of people.

7/. Once you have started following people, many will start to follow you - in your profile on Twitter, explain what you do by having a related name to whatever you promote - so your name could be WeddingDayBliss or some other name related to your specialist subject.

8/. On a frequent basis, daily, post snippets about your website - always add a link, make sure your website link is in your profile - you will get noticed more and more, and people will start visiting your website.

9/. Don’t just use Twitter for spamming, so for example, just don’t sit there typing in the same old “I run a boring affiliate program and make loads of money, visit my website at www.xxxxx” I wish I had a dollar for every “I made 3 trillion dollars in one afternoon” - type claims I see on the Internet and on Twitter - baloney.

If your words are interesting and your twitterings are engaging, people will follow you and find you interesting. If you are not engaging and not interesting, you’ll get the same response you get when you go to parties, people will start to ignore you, and keep away from you. To get lots of followers, be engaging.

10/. I twitter on about my favourite beef about affiliate marketing. I just don’t understand why so many people spend so many dollars advertising their websites through Google pay per click when they have so many other ways to advertise their websites for free. Please follow me at AffiliateABC and I will promise you this, I will try hard not to bore you with boring old spam messages. By the way, if you have techniques to get free advertising, please share this information with me soon. Please introduce yourself on Twitter and say high, and please tell me on Twitter where you saw this article published, just let me know the link. And do visit Affiliate School soon for more engaging useful tips.

Use Rss And Twitter To Become A Fast Cash Profit House

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 6:38 am

Use RSS and Twitter to Become a Fast Cash Profit House by Steve Albright

RSS and Twitter are two tools that make access to content quick and easy, however they are very different and each requires their own special approach. If you are trying to make it online you need to use a combination of these to earn fast cash from Twitter.

A combined approach has proven to yield the best result which is why it is recommended. To begin with RSS simply stands for really simple syndication and is a tool used to notify subscribers to changes or updates made to their favorite web sites or blogs. You may have already seen these options on popular website and it is usually in the form of an orange square or some other creative design signifying an RSS feed.

The way it works is that users sign up and then they have a drop down menu on their web browser that updates whenever there are changes to your site. This is very beneficial because users are always up to date about your new content without having to remember to check back with your site, this is a really powerful tool if you are thinking of profiting online.

However now there is lots of talk about becoming a Twitter profit house and using that system to make fast cash from twitter. At first glance these systems are very similar and in essence they are but to use them properly you need to learn the intricacies of each one.

Twitter is a site that allows members to broadcast short messages to a list of followers known as tweeting. Kind of like you Facebook feed which lists everything that is going on with your friends Twitter does the same except it limits you to short messages.

In a for profit online business you want to use both these services to keep your subscribers abreast of what’s going on and new products to buy. With an RSS feed they know instantly about a new post on your site which lets them know the title of your post and they decide whether to click through and read it or not.

In Twitter you can announce a new post on your site and post a link to it, the good thing about Twitter is that you can also describe it and in essence convince people to read your new post or to check out your link, something that can’t be done with an RSS feed. This method drastically increases your conversions and allows you to make fast cash from Twitter.

However the down side is that Twitter is a new technology and not many people have begun to adopt it, this means it is a good idea to make use of it and RSS on your sites. Also many people view Twitter as a time waster and don’t feel like getting an account, not everyone wants to be a Twitter profit house, so an RSS option will work for them.

So by offering both options and leveraging them correctly you can develop a system where your visitors and subscribers are constantly aware of new developments on your site and this will help you keep their loyalty and keep traffic high on your sites essentially making you fast cash from Twitter.

Automatic Messages On Twitter

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 6:37 am

Automatic Messages on Twitter by Brenda Williams

If there is one thing that is annoying about Twitter, it is the fact that people sign up for automatic messages that post on other peoples profiles once they are added as a follower. For instance, the other day, I saw a couple of profiles that I wanted to follow, so I did. A few minutes later, I received what I thought was a direct message (or ‘DM’ as it is known on Twitter) from the specific person that I had followed. However, once I read the message, I very quickly realized that it was not a personal message sent by the person but, rather it was an automated message that the person had set up when they signed up for Twitter. I later wound up deleting this person.

The whole point of Twitter and/or any other social networking site is so that people can interact with one another and start conversations, engage in conversation, etc. How are you supposed to talk to someone if he or she isn’t even there though? There is no staying power in a “conversation” in which the other person is never around or simply cannot afford the time it takes to send you a personal, non-automated message.

Most of the time, you can find people to talk with or argue with on Twitter. The best way to do this is to use the search function to find topics that you are the most interested. So, for instance, if you are an athlete who likes to play soccer, you might type in the term “soccer” and see what comes up. The search results will typically produce a list of Twitter profiles along with the pertinent text to which the item you just searched for is mentioned. From there, you can click through any of the profiles (unless the profiles are set to private) to get a better idea of who that particular person is. By looking at someone’s tweets, you can not only see how often they log into Twitter, but you can also see what kinds of things interest them based on the various conversations that they are having. Additionally, nine times out of ten, you can almost immediately tell if the person has a hidden agenda.

From my experience, the twitter users who tend to gravitate towards automatic messages are those who are on Twitter to promote their businesses and/or those twitter people who have so many followers that they simply cannot keep up with all of the personal messages to each and every person. While the topic is up for debate, it seems as if automatic direct messaging (DM’ing) on Twitter not only looks and feels impersonal, but it gives off the impression that you really don’t care enough to send someone a message. If that’s the case and you simply cannot keep up with your twitterers, there is no rule saying that you have to have automated direct messaging in place. In fact, I think most Twitter users would prefer no message to one that came from a computer.

Using Twitter For Targeted Marketing Campaigns

Using Twitter For Targeted Marketing Campaigns
By Scott Schwartz

Twitter has come on to the social media scene in a powerful way. With millions of “Tweeters” around the globe, this is a difficult market to ignore. What makes Twitter different from other social media sites? Why should special interest or consideration be paid to using Twitter over MySpace or Face Book in terms of target marketing? These questions are sure to come to mind for the uninitiated, however, they are easily answered after only a short experience with Twitter.

Twitter is extremely different from the traditional social media formats like MySpace and Face Book. First, Twitter is vastly simpler and easier to use, even for a technology novice. While the other formats require extensive profiles, components and maintenance of a personal profile site, Twitter requires a simple registration to create the profile, then a user is off and running. All that is needed for Twitter is the ability to type simple blurbs about your current activities or interests. A user can “Tweet,” or write a blurb, as often or as infrequently as they desire. There are also many companion programs available for Twitter which can manage your postings, to allow them to be scheduled and uploaded when the user wishes, if they do not want to be online all the time, but want to remain active with posts. These add-ons can also manage contacts, responses to posts and updates from “Tweeters” whom the user has chosen to follow.

Twitter is also unique in the fact that personal information is not available unless the user posts it as a “Tweet.” Therefore, people are much more comfortable with interacting freely and networking with others. On the traditional social media it is rare to see anyone with more than a few thousand people in their network; however, there are man “Tweeters” with followers ranging into the hundreds of thousands and even millions. (Think Ashton Kutcher). But how does this relate to Targeted Marketing? Certainly a large market exists, but targeting specific market segments is easy on Twitter as well. Many Twitter members are promotional spammers, just putting large volume out, hoping for some interest. This is not what this article is referring to or advocating.

Twitter has a “real time” search capability, which allows users to view “tweet” threads on any keywords searched for. This allows a marketer to search for their product or service keywords, and to find those “Tweeters” whom are currently discussing topics related to their products or services. This is especially useful when those potential consumers state that they are looking to purchase or have a need for those items. Twitter allows members to respond to posts freely. These responses can contain links to sites and specific pages. Therefore, it is easy to direct qualified, interested traffic to your through such targeted postings.

However, Twitter offers another advantage as well…Through network building, your reach is increased. Every user who follows your account also gets a copy of each posting you make. With a large following, this can mean thousands, or in Ashton Kutcher’s case, millions of links to your site with a single targeted posting. For this reason, it is important to socialize and be real, as well as to do business posts. Those users who are like a constant infomercial lose the interest of followers quickly and become irrelevant. Building a network of followers and following appropriate users is just as important, if not more so, to marketing than the posts themselves.

Twitter has positioned itself remarkably well in today’s blog-centered society. In a sense, Twitter is a micro-blog site, where users give very short blogs, rather than long, well organized blogs like traditional sites. This is useful because it lends itself to RSS feeds. These feeds can be used to create interest in your site, as those who visit your site may subscribe to your Twitter feed in order to keep up to date on information, product offerings, sales, or just on your goings on. Personally, my Twitter account has a link to it on my company website, ezinearticles.com has a link to my Twitter account as well, to automatically inform my followers when I post a new article, as does Twine.

In doing targeted marketing for a client, I have created numerous links through posts, but I have also established a mutual following with two key manufacturers who supply my client with products. The value of this is twofold, one I get up to date information from key suppliers and two, suppliers see my efforts to increase sales for one of their distributors, which increases sales for them. Never underestimate the value of good PR like that. One caveat, keep your personal shares business appropriate, you do not want to share things which could create a negative image of you or your company. My final tip for Tweeting into commercial success is to just jump in a give it a try.

Happy “Tweeting” I hope to see you there. Feel free to follow me and say hi if you do come to Twitter, I would love to hear about your successes and your ideas.
