Share Your Photos on Twitter Today
By Kathi E Hildenbrandt

As the internet moves forward through Social Media Twitter is one of the most used ways to share your content and of recent to share your photos. Twitter allows users to use up to 140 characters to get their short burst of content out from funny, inspirational, the notorious sales pitches to the absolute mundane.

Until recently I did not know that one could share their pictures on Twitter. As a photographer myself this was wonderful news to me.

If you knew how to do this would you share your pictures?

Twitter itself doesn’t have any way to support this task with its 140 characters however there are a few good third party applications one can use to add this visual tweet and get started immediately.

Almost daily there is a new application springing up to support adding images. I have included a few here for you to check out.

Twitpic: Twitters most popular and largest service for sharing. Twitpic got its best notoriety when the Hudson River plane crash was shared on Twitter.

Twitgoo: Has the look and feel much like Twitter and integrates into favorites like your TwitterBerry and Mac. This application has a fee.

TweetPhoto: An up and coming application definitely in the running against Twitpic with some great features such as favoriting, stats, integrating Facebook and even geo targeting.

yfrog: A very simple application designed by Imageshack for uploading images only.

Pikchur: You can get started immediately with this application that allows you to share your pictures with not only Twitter but Facebook, Flickr, Tumblr and Friendfeed. Signing up is optional. How handy is that?

Picktor: Is one of the most recent applications being launched only last month. This is a simple application of sharing photos using Twitter’s oAuth implementation which means when you login and your are private info is safe. Picktor also allows its users to share their images within other social media sites not unlike the Pikchur application.

You will also find more ways to share your photos on Twitter such as using Friendfeed or other third party services uploading through your email or mobile phone applications.

If you had entertained the thoughts of sharing your photos on Twitter like I have well now you can. Get started today!

Double Your Income With Twitter, The New King Of Social Networking

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 5:00 am

Double Your Income With Twitter, the New King of Social Networking by AaronRaymond

Everyone knows Facebook. Everyone has heard of Social Networking. And, so everyone is thinking that Facebook is the preeminent Social Networking site. And, up till very recently, it has been. All that has now changed …

TWITTER IS THE NEW KING OF SOCIAL NETWORKING

Something new has just happened. Twitter has taken over. Twitter is the new king of Social Networking. There are two proofs.

PROOF #1 THAT TWITTER IS KING

A recent cover article in Fast Company Magazine was about how one young man is considered responsible for the success of now-president Barack Obama’s presidential election campaign. How did one man do this? Yes, through Twitter. For the very first time in history, Social Networking was the key ingredient that thrust Obama into the lead. How did he beat Hillary Clinton? How did he then beat John McCain? Using Twitter. He has millions of followers on Twitter. He can instantly communicate with all millions of them totally effortlessly and totally free of any cost and in a New Age and thrilling way. He simply types 140 characters (like one short sentence) and the message is sent around the country and around the world.

PROOF #2 THAT TWITTER IS KING

Early 2008, Twitter had half a million followers.

Early 2009, Twitter had 7 million followers.

This pace is a 14-fold increase in one year! Can you imagine such an increase? If you, for example, earn $100,000 a year, then a 14-fold increase would mean that in one year you’d be earning $1.4 million dollars a year. A 14-fold increase is equivalent to 1400%. What company, what country, what person, what anything is growing at 1400%. This is a phenomenon.

At this rate, Twitter will have 100 million followers by early 2010.

No other website has ever grown so fast, so huge. Twitter is taking over. Twitter will well surpass Facebook and every other social networking site. It is the new King.

HOW DO I GET IN TO TWITTER?

The easiest way is to go to the Twitter.com website and sign up. It’s totally easy and fast to open an account. And, of course, it is free. Then you need to follow someone. To help you get started, click on FIND PEOPLE in the top right-hand corner. Into the search box, type your friend’s name (to see if your friend is on Twitter) or the name of someone you respect or you could even type in my name as I am for sure on Twitter. As soon as you find someone, click on the FOLLOW button. Now you are following one person. You are in the game. Now, find and follow others you know and soon enough others will begin following you. It’s fun and easy.

Get into it. Twitter is the new King.

Twitter Fuels An 84-year Old’s “comedy Routine”

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 4:59 am

Twitter Fuels an 84-Year Old’s “Comedy Routine” by Bruce Wood

In Franklin, Massachusetts, Bruce Wood spends time exchanging jokes on Twitter while taking care of his father James Wood, who turns 84 this month. James suffers from the effects of a stroke and the onset of dementia. As new joke comes in, Bruce announces them to James, who then memorizes them and repeats them to nurses, doctors and visitors. James has become popular for what is starting to be known as his “comedy routine.”

The jokes are all one-liners, due to Twitter’s 140 character limit. They are all clean, and most are dumb ones worthy of children. For example, one of the early ones is “Why did the turtle cross the road? To get the Shell station!”

Bruce Wood, who is a full-time Internet business marketer and trainer, started Tweeting simple jokes as a way to initiate conversations with prospective clients. “People on Twitter are there to have casual conversation. By starting with a joke,” he says, “I’ve been able to break the tension of meeting new people, and develop a following for my blog.”

Bruce started a Twitter account last year, and shared “Tweets” with about 30 business associates. He realized that there was potential for making new contacts, but wasn’t sure how to approach them. Bruce relates, “New Internet marketers seem to be flocking to Twitter, and they are treating it like a billboard, spamming about their products in every Tweet. I didn’t want to be obnoxious.” So he tried telling jokes instead.

Since starting with the humor a few months ago, his followers have increased quickly. They now number over 6,000, and about 50 new ones find him every day through the referrals and “Re-Tweets.”

The jokes have become a kind of therapy for James, as well as a way to provide levity in the midst of what some may see as a grim scenario. “When I started repeating the little nuggets to my Dad,” Bruce continues, “He lit up and got a huge kick out of repeating them.”

Bruce also reports that memorizing and repeating the one-liners has been helpful for his father’s short-term memory. Each joke becomes a little “test” to see if James can repeat it verbatim and remember it days later. Repetition also has helped James keep in practice of speaking distinctly, a condition which required the attention of speech therapists.

James’ eyes are bad, and he gave up his computer a few years ago. He also has a difficult time reading anything but headlines, so his main stimulation during the day was meals, television, and visiting nurses. Now he has a collection of one-liners to remember, and his conversations are punctuated with impromptu Confucius jokes (”Confucius says ‘Man who runs behind car gets exhausted.”) and medical jokes (”Man who wants pretty nurse must be patient.”)

James appreciates all the new attention. He says that Bruce’s mother raised him up right. That’s because he wouldn’t lie down.

Bruce Wood is an artist and entrepreneur who specializes in Internet marketing. His personal blog is at http://www.BruceWood.net Follow Bruce Wood and send jokes to James Wood on Twitter http://www.Twitter.com/BruceWood

Twitter Marketing - Use TweetAdder to Automate Your Twitter Business!

Twitter Marketing - Use TweetAdder to Automate Your Twitter Business!
By Jim Farnsworth

OK…I’m addicted on twitter. I likely did what a lot of you have done: I signed up with twitter some months back…looked at it…and said..”Now what am I supposed to do with it?” And walked away.

But, then I sat in on a webinar, talking about social networking. About having 100,000 followers on twitter, and how twitter is used to ‘introduce’ your business, send helpful tips, and then move followers to wherever you want them to go.

So, I went back to twitter, got TweetAdder, and the proverbial lightbulb went off. After 1 week, I now have 1700 followers, and have set up a second account, specifically for local ‘Tweeters’

TweetAdder automates almost everything you would want to do with twitter. As I am writing this article, TweetAdder has added 100 followers to my account, and is automatically sending my tweets that I set up last night.

There is a growing number of twitter programs that will do everything you could ever want on twiiter: But TweetAdder is the only one that I have found that will do all of that…automatically.

For example, there are programs to find people for you to follow. But they will only LIST those people; you have to go through and ‘follow’ them yourself. TweetAdder allows you to search for people to follow by tweets, their bio, location (zip code, city, state), or even following the followers of specific members. You choose how many you want to follow, click the mouse, and TweetAdder not only finds the people, but it automatically SIGNS YOU UP as a follower. You can set it and walk away.

You can use it to automate your tweets. Prepare your messages all at once, make about 20 of them. Load them into the ‘Tweet” submitter, and minimize the program. Now, automatically, every 40-60 minutes, depending on the setting that YOU set, your ‘tweets’ go out.

TweetAdder keeps track of your ‘Follows’, and your ‘Followers. Your ‘Unfollows’ are also automated. Select how many you want to unfollow, and TweetAdder takes care of it. Direct Messages can also be sent…to whatever class of followers you wish….’New followers first’, ‘Random followers’, etc.

You can set everything up at once; getting new follows, following new follows, unfollowing, DMs, Tweets, and going to the ‘Automation’ page, and click…TweetAdder runs in the background.

There are various programs that will do all of these services, and most of them are free. TweetAdder is $55 for one account; up to five accounts can be handled for an additional $19. Why would you want extra accounts? I have a general account, which is centered on businesses and internet marketing; I have just started a second account, which will be centered on local tweeters, based on zip code. The affiliate program is great; 50%. Sell 2, and your program is free.

Download the FREE trial today. You get a fully functional program….no time limit…no CC needed…you’re limited to 250 followers. This is a great program.

Jim Farnsworth concentrates his Internet Marketing on two specialties: Online Video, and twitter. Follow him @snappp and visit his website at AkronContentMarketing to download the Free Trial of TweetAdder, and Video Wildfire, his favorite Video Submission Software.

Website 101 - Getting Started With Twitter

Website 101 - Getting Started With Twitter
By Howard Rybko

Your Twitter profile page will become your home page on Twitter. Done properly this can be a boost to your other web activities and online presence in general.

Firstly, don’t just rush in and create a profile, which Twitter makes so easy, only to find that you have to start again down the line because you have missed some vital points.

Before you start, make sure you understand how your choices for Username and other details of your profile, will affect the impact of your profile page.

Your profile page will have:

Areas Twitter Controls:

  • Header area
  • Tweet area
  • Bio area

Areas You Control:

  • Background image (large image)
  • Profile image (small image like a photo of you or your company/enterprise logo)

Areas with text you have some control over:

  • Username - displayed by Twitter but must be selected carefully (see below)
  • Tweet content
  • Bio content details

See below for a link to a diagram of the above areas.

Things to take note of include:

Background Image

  • Your background image needs to be specially designed to ensure the best impact possible. It has to either repeat or be designed to fit the left and right narrow columns. The background color should also match your brand colors. (There are a number of templates available on the web for Twitter profile pages. They are usually in Photoshop format. Google this phrase “Twitter Profile page template’ as a starting point.
  • Don’t forget screen resolution is a factor! My advice is to keep the image as simple as possible because the image is not like a HTML web page. This will affect your profile page by not producing a consistent spacing and format when viewing screen resolution changes. Make sure that you test a sample image on various common resolutions (especially the common ones - 1024X786, 1280×720 or 1280×768)

Logo Picture

  • Your logo can be loaded as the profile image even though this is pretty small
  • The most visible text will be your Username - so this is an important word. See below for tips about selection of username.

Signing up

Signing up is quick and painless. The first 2 selections you must make are your Name and Username. Make sure that you choose these to reflect your business, venture or whatever you are looking to publicize.

Remember that your username will become a permanent part of your persona on the web. So choose well. Current Twitter username rules are a bit tricky.

1) Pick a Good Full Name

This name will appear on your profile page and you can use quite along name with various punctuation elements.

2) Pick a Good Username

i) Username cannot be longer than 15 characters

ii) You have to use an underscore to separate words

iii) No dashes or spaces are allowed. (Also brackets and full stops)

If your company is ABC Fishing Equipment then a good place to start would be: twitter.com/ABC_Fishing or even twitter.com/ABC_Fishing _Equ

Despite the best practice advice to always use dashes as a separator when working on the web, in Twitters case you have to use the underscore.

3) Your Bio

This is really important and you have to have your say in 160 characters. Best practice would be to design and layout your words in a word processor first. This will ensure that your spelling is correct and force you spend a few minutes thinking about what your bio needs to say.

4) Your Home Page Link

Unfortunately this will be given a NoFollow status by Twitter and thus will bring no real SEO inbound link value. However it can still be read and used by human visitors to your Twitter profile page, so make sure you get the link right by cutting and pasting it into a browser address bar to ensure it goes to your site.

5) Using Your Twitter Link

You can now start using your Twitter link on your website and in other places. Place a call to action prompt on your home page to say something like “Follow us on Twitter”.

Next step is to learn how to Tweet!

Hand Fans - Woman’s Early Version Of Twitter!

Hand Fans - Woman’s Early Version of Twitter! by Susan Hawkins

It was a sultry, southern afternoon the day my dear friend got married outdoors next to a romantic, cascading waterfall. The insects kept their distance for the most part, but the heat was definitely going to make for an uncomfortable half hour. Fortunately, my friend is a lifelong southerner, and she had it well covered.

Not only did she have a huge, galvanized bucket full of personalized bottle water, but on every seat were beautifully gift-boxed fan wedding favors, none of which remained in their boxes once the guests sat down. Let’s hear it for low-tech air conditioning!

A couple of weeks after the wedding, I read Miss Manners’ column in which a pregnant woman who was finding the summer heat unbearable questioned whether there were some places where it might be inappropriate for her to pull out a fan and wave with vigor. To Miss Manners’ credit, she said, in essence, an uncomfortable pregnancy trumps any event, so go for it! She also said something about fans that I found intriguing—during the Victorian era, a woman used her fan to send valuable, short messages to others, like Twitter does today.

I found 32 distinct fan movements that convey what was improper to say aloud. Clearly, this had to be one of the subjects studied at Victorian etiquette school. Here are some of my favorites:

Hiding the eyes behind an open fan or drawing the fan across the cheek—”I love you.”

Drawing the fan through the hand - “I hate you.”

Drawing the fan across the eyes - “I’m sorry.”

Half-opened fan pressed to the lips - “Kiss me.”

Placing the fan behind the head - “Do not forget me.”

Fan in left hand in front of face - “I am desirous of your acquaintance.”

Fan held over the left ear - “I wish to get rid of you.”

Letting the fan rest on the right cheek - “Yes.”

Letting the fan rest on the left cheek - “No.”
(NOTE: Don’t you feel sorry for the gentleman unfamiliar with the language of the fan in those days. One misinterpretation, and he might find himself the victim of a vicious fan flogging. But I digress.)

Touching the finger to the tip of the fan - “I wish to speak with you.”

Dropping the fan - “We will be friends.”

Opening and closing the fan several times - “You are cruel.”

Twirling the fan in the left hand - “We are being watched.”

Fanning quickly - “I am engaged. I am engaged.”

Fanning slowly - “I am married.”

Covering the left ear with an open fan - “Do not betray our secret.”
(NOTE: It might have been improper to say these things aloud, but, for heaven’s sake, anyone who’s watching your, uh, fanfare, is getting a pretty good picture of what’s going on anyway.)
Hands clasped together holding an open fan - “Forgive me.”

The number of sticks shown answered the question - “At what hour?”

Presenting the fan shut - “Do you love me?”

Placing the fan behind the head with fingers extended - “Goodbye.”

So now I’m wondering if they ever put several of those sentiments together to make a point. For instance, imagine a fan-savvy woman of the day saying all at once “You are cruel. I wish to get rid of you. I hate you. Goodbye.” It would either look like some kind of demure fan dance or she had completely lost her mind.

As romantic as fan language appears, I think I’ll stick to Twitter - although, both methods of communication can produce a lot of hot air.

The Greatest As Well As Worst Of Twitter A Novel Population As Well As A Innovative Technique To Come Together

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 6:34 am

The Greatest as well as worst of Twitter a novel population as well as a innovative technique to come together by Harriet Johnson

Twitter is the newly paved ‘Information Super Highway. It is furthermore to be held responsible for my inadequate response on answering emails. I up to that time used to type time-consuming letters in e-mail at this time my responses are condensed and instantly transmitted. Twitter is still in its cool phase. It needs to stick around for at least a few additional years before we can truly disclose the influence of its service.

Twitter is like instant messaging but of inferior quality. Users can subscribe to efficient text messages from an individual, though the messages are restricted to a maximum of 140 characters. This new service is attracting people of all walks of life which can make for a fun mix or a overall nightmare depending on your opinion. In the last month I have received 12,000 followers to our News Wire Twitter account. Most of these original followers send a ‘Welcome Tweet’ or a message to advise you that they subscribed to your Tweets.

I can at the present announce that according to 3000+ Tweets I ought to be ashamed of myself for not being a millionaire by now. It seems the greater part of my new Tweeting friends are making mind-boggling amounts of money on the Internet and are graciously giving me the secrets to unlock these millions of dollars. I have not witnessed so much consideration since somebody sent me a Video of Madonna that had a PC eating virus attached to it.

The second group of followers enlighten you on the secret on how you can have 100 new followers per day. Twitter has totally eliminated the need of a street corner on the new Super-Highway. Now you merely have to ask strangers if they want to be your acquaintance, for no obvious reason. Some of them will. For no apparent reason. There are services that will bow to currency and essentially buy you friends. Granted now we are more or less back on the street corner.

If you survive to sidestep and steer clear of most of those charitable offers, you have an added group of new followers to handle. This group of Tweeters would like you to be enrolled in the Mafia. Yes friends you read that right. You will get Tweets telling you that you have been enrolled in a Mafia and your attendance is requested. So far I am as prevalent as Vito Corleone. As a consequence I am a member of 573 Mafia groups. If you do not like this article, be afraid, be very afraid. Of course i joke. The ‘Mafia’ is part of popular online amusement called ‘Spy Master’ and players try to sign up new-fangled members to play.

When you are finished with the offers, the invitations of unification groups, breaking knee caps in Mafia’s and building your fortune of millions of dollars on the Internet it is time to relax. Now you sit back and watch, and pass the time, and hold your horses.

A recent survey found that only 40% of all Tweeters in fact, have something to say. The balance of Tweeters are watching. Celebrated Tweeters such as Oprah, Ashton, Madonna and Britney will only Tweet every so often. In addition even on the Super-Highway, there are fraudsters. The Celebrities they emerge to be, are not. Hang around, it gets worse. The people you believe are not celebrated, actually are. It does get bewildering. When Twitter originally started the service, some people created fake accounts, such as celebrities who has names we will not reveal. When the real Celebrity finally heard about Twitter (from their staff) it was already too late. Currently the real Celebrity may often have a name similar to ‘TheReal+name’ while the phony account is still holding a claim to the screen name until Twitter suspends them. In spite of the fact that you think you are following Tom Cruise and ‘he’ tweets to you from ‘his’ living room in ‘his’ boxer shorts, it may be ‘Bernie in Raphaoamdilliang’ someone you would by no means want to see in boxer shorts. The most well-known Tweeter of them all, Ashton Kutcher goes by the name of: Aplusk.

Twitter is just now starting to extend a new Verification procedure but as Twitter states on their company Blog: ‘The experiment will start with public officials, public agencies, famous artists, athletes, and other well recognized individuals at risk of impersonation..’ So if you are a underling, sorry, you are still out of luck and any person can start an account claiming to be ‘you’.

Here is a notion. The US Postal organization managed to authenticate my name and address online by charging $1.00 to my credit card before forwarding correspondence to a new mailing address. Completely automated and took 2 minutes. But Twitter can not separate Britney Spears from ‘Arnie’s Hot Dog Stand.’ ‘Due to the resources required’. And I thought technology had progressed to new highs.

Additionally Twitter has no advertising, thus far. Given how engaged a considerable portion of Twitter’s users are and how it is befitting a hot testbed for opt-in marketing, it is not unlikely that Twitter’s users may be worth more to advertisers than Facebook’s or MySpace. Before we can find out, Twitter needs to select a business model. Yet once more, the private sector is way in front of the game. At hand, are a small amount of companies that offer you money just for putting approximately 140 characters of promotional tweets within your numerous Tweets. As a result some of your friends unexpectedly get your cheery tweet about a new Stool Softener that hit the marketplace or how Viagra might benefit them.

At the end of the day you are worn from Tweeting, turning down millions, playing in the middle of your Mafia connections and chatting with people you would like to talk to. Twitter is in spite of of all, the best application to hit monitors and cell phones since ‘YouTube.’ I see tremendous promise in Twitter’s future. 7 Million and counting.

If used in the correct approach it is an impressive tool to stay in touch with friends and convey information to those that chose to acknowledge it.

10 Great Ways To Use Twitter To Your Business’s Advantage

10 Great Ways To Use Twitter To Your Business’s Advantage by Alex Gwen Thomson

Twitter is the latest web-centric communications service to explode onto the scene, and businesses have moved in rapidly. However, a little discretion goes a long way, as the users of “social” sites and services have demonstrated that they will stomach only so much commercialization of what they consider their personal space. As MySpace evolved from an upstart new kid on the block where everyone let everything “hang out” to a part of the Rupert Murdoch media empire, people who’d had enough began looking for other places. This influenced the rise of Facebook. Now that Facebook has begun acting like a “regular old corporation,” too, folks are on the search again.

Your company can most definitely benefit from using Twitter. The primary use for it in business is to listen, because, as every top-performing salesman knows, listening is more important than talking most of the time. You want to hear from every customer, vendor, client, industry leader, journalist, activist, colleague and competitor who has anything to say about your product, service or business. Twitter has much in common with old-style networking, like early morning meetings at diners and water-cooler chats, except it’s been “virtualized” for 21st century knowledge sharing. With that brief introduction, let’s look at 10 great ways to use Twitter to your business’s advantage.

#1. Listen more, talk less: If you just think of Twitter as another way to “post” your messages and advertisements, you’re missing the whole point and your following will probably be nonexistent. Spend more time listening to what others are “tweeting” (posting) about you and you will gather valuable information. When you do post a message, make it something people want to know, not something you want them to know.

#2. Find your niche: Twitter’s uses are limited only by your imagination, or someone else’s if you’re fresh out of ideas. Don’t think of what you can get, but what you can offer and what you can learn. You may want to share knowledge, you may want to obtain it, or you may just want to assure customers, colleagues and others that you are available to them. You will benefit to the extent that you listen and stay engaged, which means referring back to #1 a lot.

#3. Develop a personality (or a few): A number of business bloggers have commented on how well Twitter works to humanize an otherwise impersonal entity like a corporation. A fresh and interesting personality attracts followers, and some successful firms even allow numerous voices to reach out from within the company’s offices and cubicles.

#4. Eavesdrop: There are several good tools for monitoring what is being said, starting with Twitter’s own search field. Search for your term(s) and when the results are displayed, you will also get a list of the current most-popular searches (to the right) so you always know what’s hot at the moment. The site monitter.com, as the name implies, was developed specifically for use with Twitter, to allow simultaneous multiple searches.

#5. Build your audience: The first thing to do is post a few tweets to get a handle on how it all works, of course, and dedicate some study time to see what your competitors and companies in the same industry are doing. Make use of the “Find People” function on the top of the Twitter page to find people in your own company, your current clients and colleagues, old classmates and friends, etc. Use the “@” reply to connect directly with people, to make sure they see your tweet, and discuss matters of interest to them. When they respond with the @ reply, other folks following them may notice you and choose to follow you, too.

#6. Follow the followers: You should find out who else your followers are following, as that can give you fresh insight into the types of people to seek. Use the various search methods (see #4 above) to find subjects that relate to your industry, and pay attention to who’s talking about these matters. Don’t be a broadcaster, be a conversationalist, and if you do Twitter right, you will build a following daily.

#7. Be human: Too many people, from firms both large and small, represent their firms poorly by appearing to be robots on a fixed schedule. They crank out PR verbiage and automated data and don’t offer anything for followers to grab hold of. You have to “throw them a line” or you will sail right by everyone.

#8. Be polite and respectful: This means that the rules for eating Thanksgiving dinner at the neighbor’s house are in effect-no politics, no religion, unless you’re a politician or a clergyman, of course. These subjects have no place in a business conversation, so leave them out.

#9: Play nice: Don’t get emotionally involved or rant about a person, place or product. One marketing blogger called Twitter “a ship we are all traveling on,” so it’s important to act appropriately-or be forced to “walk the plank.”

#10: Stay positive: Don’t be pessimistic, and don’t whine or complain about what’s wrong with this or that industry or the world in general. People will follow people they like, who offer something of value, who are upbeat and who stay on an even keel. Of course, some situations require a serious, even solemn approach, but those are the exceptions and should be handled delicately. Anyone can bellyache, gripe, moan and groan. A leader, on the other hand, offers solutions.

Bottom line? Twitter is a tool, and a good one, for keeping conversations going with stakeholders, potential customers, colleagues and even competitors. It takes real-time management because it’s a real-time tool, but when it’s done right Twitter can be an important addition to your sales, marketing and business communications arsenal.
