Social Media Management Via Twitter - Making it Easier
By Brian L. O’Connell

Getting traffic to CPA websites is an ongoing visualize. Engaging people through sociable media like Twitter helps move that project forward. Here is a tool that makes managing Twitter that much easier.

Organized Viewing. CoTweet is an application which allows easy managing of your Tweets and engages your followers. Best part is, it’s free. It provides a great way to listen for conversations and monitor your CPA firm’s total image (which is part of branding).

Multiple Users. CoTweet provides a simple user interface that allows for multiple user accounts. Comments and conversations happen fast on social media websites. When more than one person keeps a thumb on natural process, it is easy to catch trends.

Most people don’t have trouble coming up with messages. It is easy enough to Tweet about their CPA firm or current events; it’s finding the time for all of this each day that is sometimes a challenge. CoTweet allows more people to manage the account, which means you can each spend 10 minutes a day to leverage all that Twitter offers.

Multiple Search Results. CoTweet makes searching Twitter much more easier to do. Multiple search results show in different smaller windows. That way, it’s simple to compare results of searches and find trends.

Multiple Accounts. Does your CPA firm have multiple Twitter accounts? CoTweet makes it easy to manage all of these accounts from one location. If you only have one account, consider opening additional accounts. It is often easier to target a extra purpose or audience when you use multiple accounts.

Social Media websites like Twitter and Facebook have the potential to help market web sites for CPAs. Keep reading the CPA Site Solutions blog for more helpful tips and ideas on marketing.

Six Basics of Tweet Etiquette on Twitter

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 12:58 pm

Six Basics of Tweet Etiquette on Twitter
By Shirley Lee

Twitter is a community of people seeking knowledge. Like any other community there are guidelines for how to communicate with and treat others. Below are a few basics related to appreciation, grammar, and sharing of information to remember if choosing to recognize others or communicate with followers on Twitter.

Express Gratitude

  • If others retweet (RT) something you have sent as a tweet, you should send out thanks messages. Regardless of whether they write it as a new RT with a mention (@) of the account name or if the built-in Twitter retweet option was used. The thank-you message may be sent as a direct message (DM) to only their account. Or the thank-you may be done as a mention using @ or the mention option in a new tweet that may be seen by everyone following.
  • If a general question is sent to followers, be sure to send back a thank-you via DM, mention, or reply option for any helpful responses.

Don’t Be Rude

  • If others mention your account, a thank-you with the appropriate response and a reference of what was in original tweet may be tweeted back via a mention of their account. If the response is not going to be positive, it is better to do it as a direct message so rudeness is not spread across the twitasphere. Recognition of a mention is nice but it is not considered required by most users on Twitter.
  • Also, do not be crude. Although it happens in most communities, curse words or symbols indicating them and other obscenities are not nice, nor appreciated by most readers, and can even be confusing to some. So unless the desire is to be unfollowed or blocked, avoid doing this.

Grammar Rules

  • You only get 140 characters in which to share your message in a tweet. Therefore most readers believe it is ok to abbreviate words and use numbers or letter to replace full words when necessary (Example 2=to/too, 4=for, w=with, n or +=and). However most prefer to be able to quickly understand what they are reading so avoid doing this when he message will fit in less than the Twitter maximum character range.
  • Although some tweeters occasionally use texting formats, which is acceptable if the majority of their followers do the same and these people are the only target audience. Complete sentences following standard grammar rules are preferable for a clear communication to a large audience. Full text sentences are easy-to-read and understand. Not using proper grammar may give the impression that the sender is not literate.

Share Good Stuff

  • When receiving a great quote, good article link, or other interesting information from a follower or other resources, feel free to share it with your followers via a retweet or a custom tweet. Many on-line article sites and blogs have a button set up where you can instantly share a link to the article as a tweet if logged into a Twitter account.
  • If during a Twitter search for a particular topic of hashtag (#) a good tidbit is found, feel free to retweet it too. Also, check out the original Tweeter by clicking their account name to see if they present lots of relevant information in case following is also desirable.

Don’t Spam

  • Sharing is good, however sending too many tweets can get you labeled a spammer. There are some people who send a tweet every 1-2 minutes after a while others either quit reading those tweets or choose to unfollow, block, or mark as spam these multiple tweeters. So think about it before setting-up one of those auto-senders to create tweets, hiring someone to tweet on your behalf, or spending all your time on the phone or computer developing tweet material.
  • This does not mean that sharing products, services, or freebies should not be done via Twitter. It just means do not overdo it. After all, most people like to find out about free offerings and be the first to know about a new product or business. Many on Twitter will even be willing to try these things out and communicate their finding to followers via new tweets or retweets of the original text.

Process Direct Messages

  • If someone sends a question via DM, it is polite to answer back via DM especially if you have something relevant to share. However, every DM does not require a response as many are strictly “For Your Information” (FYI) to let you know more about the person who is newly following you.
  • If it is to be a private conversation, use the TO option in the direct message window and not @ so that the information remains between two users and not made available to the twitasphere.

These basics for showing gratitude, sharing information, responding, and grammar usage should help make Twitter a better communication tool for letting followers know what they might find interesting. Remember Twitter is a community of people seeking knowledge, but not expecting information overload as can happen when proper etiquette is not used.

Hummingbird Versus Tweetadder On Twitter Marketing Performance And Service

Filed under: Twitter — admin @ 12:57 pm

Hummingbird versus TweetAdder on Twitter Marketing Performance and Service by hummingbirdpro

I have actually lost count how many twitter programs there are on the market today that claim to lead you to success. It appears that there are a couple of them that are taking the lead with today’s professionals so we decided to test some of them to see what results you might expect with them.

First on the list for top professionals is Hummingbird which comes in a couple different versions as of April 30th. The second program is TweetAdder that seems to have a small following and a simple interface. We also did some other tests on programs like Tweepnet and another program that was being marketed as the greatest program in twitter history for success :-). Seriously if you believe half of the marketing claims that these companies put out there we should of all been millionaires by now right. This article covers just the first two programs that we tested.

When looking at these programs we looked at a couple things.

1. The ease of use of the program - can anyone really use it.
2. The support of the program from the company. If you have a challenge what support tools do they have and how responsive are they.
3. The results of the program - what is the follow back percentage that you can expect using them.

Our findings:

#1. Both Hummingbird versions were very easy to use and we also found that TweetAdder had a very simple interface as well. With TweetAdder you needed to build up your lists and you also had to figure out that you had to have a separate program running for each account in order to send automated tweets. TweetAdder has automated tweets and dm’s where Hummingbird does not have them yet. (NOTE: We did get our accounts suspended for the automated tweets and it appears that twitter identified the accounts on the machine as being from the same machine suspending all the accounts that we had created for the test within a month.

#2. Both Hummingbird and TweetAdder has a support system. We found that Hummingbird would provide support always on the same day and sometimes within the same hour or in just a couple minutes. They were very impressive in the support they provided and also the different tools of support. TweetAdder was quite the opposite. We waited for days for a response and some of the responses were just acknowleging that they had problems with no resolution. It does appear that they are very quick to give you your money back instead of providing you support though. So for support and a company that backs you we would have to say Hummingbird is the winner without a doubt.

#3. Follow back percentage or building up our following lists. Both Hummingbird 2 and TweetAdder had a lower follow back percentage because of how the auto-follow engine works in our opinion. We did find that Hummingbird 1 had a follow-back percentage that was around 70% and if we were paying attention to how we used it we could even get better a better percentage. This means that for building followers Hummingbird 1 is the king of the programs for percentage and fast following. (Note: Hummingbird 1 only works on a PC at the time and it has no restrictions so you should not leave the program alone to just run.

Summary of our test:

We would have to say that considering you can purchase Hummingbird today for 97.00 and you can manage as many twitter accounts as you want we would have to say Hummingbird would be our choice for auto-follow engines. TweetAdder has a compact program but the cost structure of per account and the fact that they are very poor in support leads us to say that TweetAdder is not even our second choice today.

We will be posting more information on more tests and also some tips to help you improve your success on twitter.

Ten Twitter Tips For Work-At-Home Moms

Ten Twitter Tips For Work-At-Home Moms
By Jill Hart

Below are ten tips to help shorten that learning curve.

1. Choose a Meaningful User name

If possible, grab your business name as well as your own name for use on Twitter. Having an easy-to-find and easy-to-remember username is essential.

2. Brand your Twitter page

Don’t leave your Twitter page boring and plain - spice it up. Make sure you add your logo, contact information and any other information that will be helpful for customers and visitors to your page. You can use a website such as TwitBacks.com to create a free or very low-cost background to bring life to your page.

3. Learn the Lingo

Twitter can be very useful, but it can also be very frustrating… especially if you have no idea what all those little symbols mean that fly across the screen. Take the time to research the meanings of the tags most often used on Twitter. One great place to do so is right on Twitter itself: go to help.twitter.com/portal

4. Follow industry leaders

Veteran entrepreneur Diana Ennen shares this tip: “I love to follow industry experts on Twitter and gain all their business insight. It’s almost like being right there in their office and getting in on their trade secrets. Not only do they post tips and how to information, but often share their business successes and mistakes and that allows me to learn from them. It’s so worth it!”

5. Interact

Don’t be shy! Take a few minutes each day to comments on what others are discussing or to throw out a question or idea. You never know when a topic is going to spark a response and help you build relationships with customers and your fellow Twitter users.

6. Don’t make it all business news - be YOU

It’s great to share about the things going on in your business and you certainly will want to share specials, discounts and other items of interest to your customers. However, as a small business owner you have the unique ability to put a personal face on your business. Let your customers and readers get to know a little about you as well as your business.

7. Run Contests

Twitter is a great fast-paced way to a run a contest. By having a great prize you can create a viral network of “tweets” about your company and the giveaway you’re holding. Sit down beforehand and plan out some great 140 character tweets that you can use throughout the giveaway time - whether that be minutes, hours or even days.

8. Share

Make your Twitter feed a worthwhile read for your customers. Share tips that apply to your target market, links to articles and other informational tidbits. Create a #hashtag for your business or topic (see #3 above) so that you can track re-tweets and mentions of your posts.

9. Be Thankful

A great way to make friends and build contacts is to thank others who re-tweet (RT) your posts. Send a shout-out saying thanks or feature them at special times like FriendFriday (#FF). They’ll know that you’re grateful and you’ll build a community that supports you - and each other.

10. Promote Others

Contrary to popular belief it IS in your best interest to work together with other entrepreneurs and to help spread the word about great things that they may be doing. Not only will people be drawn to your Twitter feed for great information, but they will see that you’re willing to share about more than your own interests. Another great benefit is that those you help promote will one day be there to help promote you as well.

Twitter is a great marketing tool for work-at-home moms. It can help drive traffic to your website as well as aid you in building relationships with your target market. Use the tips above to help guide you in how to best use social media to benefit your business and your customers.

Mexican Government Anger at Twitter Use by Drug Cartels

Mexican Government Anger at Twitter Use by Drug Cartels
By Tom Doerr

Mexicans cartels have adopted a new technique in avoiding military raids and police checkpoints; using Facebook and Twitter. The social networking sites have been on the radar of government officials who believe it has been used to facilitate the abduction of the relatives of powerful businessmen and politicians, as kidnappers are allegedly using the social networking sites to identify the families of a high profile individual and monitoring their daily activity.

Ordinary citizens have already angered the government by using twitter to alert one another of the locations of breathalyzer checkpoints via ‘@anitaa_df’ and now use of the site has expanded to drug dealers.

Mexican security expert Ghaleb Krame says, “Twitter is a serious problem not only to Mexican law-enforcement agencies but to any law or intelligence agencies all over the world, because criminals, drug cartels and terrorist cells are getting more sophisticated in their methods of communication.”

Organised Crime has made use of Twitter and other social networks to communicate with one another through keywords that don’t mean anything to the general public. The cartels don’t just use the networks to communicate with each other but also spread fear amongst local communities. A recent incident involved the town of Reynosa being terrorized by members of a cartel spreading messages through the town which has been bloodied with drug gang activity. One such message read; “The largest scheduled shootout in the history of Reynosa will be tomorrow or Sunday, send this message to people you trust that tomorrow a convoy of 60 trucks full of cartel hit men from the Michoacan Family together with members of the Gulf Cartel are coming to take the city and take everyone out alive or dead!”

The use of social networking in Mexico is to be closely regulated and monitored after a bill has been drafted by the government. Sharing information that helps others break the law or avoid it a criminal act under the new bill. The bill will not target the social media companies themselves only the users of the networks. The bill has been controversial in Mexico and many users have slammed the legislation as an excuse to act as Big Brother.

To battle the ever rising drug problem in Mexico, the government is undergoing massive law recruitment. Visit Prodo for the most competitive SEO Cheshire

Understanding Why Large Companies Use Twitter Marketing

Understanding Why Large Companies Use Twitter Marketing
By E Knouse

Many wonder why large companies use Twitter marketing. If you really think about it, it is quite simple. They want more input on what people are feeling and thinking about their company. One can go on line and learn all about the large companies, but there are web sites that do not allow you to type your opinion. And believe or not they want your input, whether it is positive or negative.

Starbucks uses Twitter marketing all the time. They can put in promotions, give coupons away and such. Jet Blue airlines gives their Twitter followers information about flights, take off and landings. They even will tell you who will be on duty when you are ready to fly. Many frequent flyers will request certain people because they have flown with them before and liked them.

Comcast is another large company that uses Twitter marketing. They actually have a real person picture instead of just their logo on their Twitter page. Comcast is one of the largest cable companies in the United States and they want to stay in touch with their customers. Even Ford Motor Company is on Twitter. They want to hear feed back from their customers in regards to their cars, trucks, customer service, etc.

One of the largest food stores nationwide, Whole Foods Market uses Twitter marketing to reach thousands of people. They want their customers and potential customers what they are offering. Many new foods come in the markets and they are invited to their events. Believe it or not even H&R Block is on Twitter. They will contact their customers and invite them to ask questions about their taxes.

We all remember Southwest Airlines and their bad press about Kevin Smith being to fat to fly. Some say it was not really bad press, but it boosted the airline sales. This was all done on Twitter and it was great marketing. Using the Twitter marketing, people can now find outstanding travel deals. From the best hotels to stay at in the city they are traveling to, to the best chicken fried steak and where it is. Travel agents use Twitter to give their customers a step up on good deals and when to fly. This is a great tool to use if you have to fly all over the world. Before you land, you will know what’s what.

If one is an avid reader, there are large book publishers that will notify you of upcoming books you must read. They will give a very short take of the book and the price, where you can buy it and when it will be coming out. More and more writers have Twitter and sometimes will send you their latest book title, hoping you will go out and buy their book. Ever thought about large newspapers using Twitter marketing? Sure they do. The more copies they sell the bigger their profits. So they want to let everybody know about them. There are hundreds of large companies using Twitter marketing. Some say it is the only way to go now.
